Model Overview

For 2010, the Volvo C70 convertible is offered in North America only with the top-performing T5 engine. It comes standard with a 2.5L inline-5-cylinder turbocharged engine, that makes 227 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to either a standard 6-speed manual gearbox or an optional 5-speed automatic transmission with Geartronic manual shift control. MacPherson Struts are used in the front suspension, while the rear suspension is a multi-link design.
The retractable hard top system folds away neatly inside the trunk in about 30 seconds. The new 2010 hardtop offers better outward visibility and a quieter interior than other soft-top convertibles, while providing a stiffer body for better handling.

Standard safety equipment includes door-mounted inflatable curtain airbags, which offer head protection in side impact crashes and rollovers even when the windows and the top are down. Pop-up roll bars that deploy automatically in a crash or a rollover further protect occupants. Four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, antiskid system, electronic stability control with brake assist and a full complement of airbags are also standard. A clever blind-spot alert system, which utilizes sensors to alert the driver to nearby vehicles, is optional.

Standard equipment includes power-adjustable leather seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, an anti-theft system, aluminum wheels, fog lamps, wireless cell-phone integration and heated mirrors. Options include a navigation system with real-time traffic information, a premium audio system, satellite radio, rain-sensing wipers, keyless start, rear parking aid, woodgrain interior trim, heated seats and HID bi-xenon headlamps.

Model Changes

The Volvo C70 gets a number of subtle and striking styling upgrades for 2010. Taking design cues from other Volvo models, the XC60 and the S60 Concept Car introduced in Detroit in January 2009, the new C70 convertible has a new front fascia, headlights, fenders and tail lights, and some updated materials in the interior, including a new instrument cluster and softer leather seats. Headlights are larger and sweep further back while more pronounced taillights and a dual exhaust accent the rear. The Volvo emblem is now more prominent on the front grille and on the rear decklid.
